Honey and apple Quebec veal meatballs
Treat yourself and your family to this delicious meatball recipe. The apple and honey combination makes for a very flavourful and tender meatball that will make your guests come back for more.
Ingredients
- 15 ml (1 tbsp) olive oil
- 454g (1 lb) ground veal
- 80 ml (1/3 cup) quick cooking rolled oats
- 60 ml (1/4 cup) French shallots chopped
- 60 ml (1/4 cup) parsley chopped
- 15 ml (1 tbsp) garlic chopped
- 15 ml (1 tbsp) paprika
- 1 beaten egg
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 250 ml (1 cup) apple juice
- 125 ml (1/2 cup) apple sauce
- 30 ml (2 tbsp) honey
- 15 ml (1 tbsp) cider vinegar
- 10 ml (2 tbsp) Dijon mustard
- 5 ml (1tsp) Curry powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
- In a bowl, mix well alll the meatball ingredients. Makes 16 to 20 meatballs.
- In a frying pan, heat the oil on medium. Brown meatballs on all side for 2 to 3 minutes.
- In a slow cooker, combine the sauce ingredients.
- Place the meatballs into the slow cooker and stir gently. Cover and cook for 3 to 4 hours on high.
